What is a reading course?
An independent study opportunity to explore an area of mathematics which interests you with a faculty member.
Why take a reading course?
Delve into math & stats topics that would otherwise not be covered in courses offered by the department
Great way to identify strengths & interests
Enhance scientific communication skills
What does it look like from a student's perspective?
Read relevant book chapters and/or journal articles
Present findings to your supervisor as a report or presentation

What is project course?
A project in pure/applied mathematics or statistics to be carried out under the supervision of a faculty member

Great way to gain research experience

Independently learn an advanced topic in math & stats
